Hey folks! Leave it to me to struggle with the “heartiest” corals out there. I purchased this long polyp toadstool last weekend, and it does not look happy. I made the mistake of putting the coral on a portion of the rock work where my cleaner shrimps like to perch.

I have since moved the coral, and in the process noticed a strange coloration developing on the trunk of the toadstool. You will note that the shrimps seem upset that I’ve moved their lookout perch…As the days pass, I’ve also noticed the coral has ‘wilted’ more noticeably. It was never vertical on the frag plug, but this coral is now almost completely sloucher

Is this coral a goner? Any chance for recovery?

Looks like shedding or peeling due to lack of flow. They require moderate light and Medium flow or they bend over or their cap skins over. relocate it a little higher and give it a few gwentle bursts with a turkey baster on its crown to perk it up
Also a little iodine and stronium in the water

iMO, unless it’s bleaching, turning white, or begin to shrivel up completely, I think your toadstool is otherwise fine, albeit it may not be happy atm they’re quite temperamental when disturbed, when there’s algae film on their polyps, or with other soft corals due to competitive or growth inhibitory toxins released in the water.
If you find their head is shiny and smooth in appearance it usually means there’s an algae bloom and they’re shedding to remove excess film from their polyps which is easily solved by using a turkey baster or direct flow towards it.
I’d move it into indirect strong flow to encourage PE and medium light or you could just remove the shrimp as I find them to annoy my corals from feeding properly.
You could also raise your magnesium since soft and LPS would love it! :)
