Strange effect of adding a skimmer???

I have a 45 gallon JBJ tank that has been fallow for a couple months now due to an ich outbreak. Tuesday I added 3 fish and a new ReefOctopus skimmer. Two days later, several of my soft coral, hammers, frogspawns, and a torch look WAY better. Far more pumped up and happy. I had been kind of disappointed in them recently.

Whats going on here? Skimmer pulling out toxins that the other filtration wasn't? Water more oxygenated? Any ideas?

Ok. I'm new at this. What are DOC's? I'm guessing some kind of organic compound?
