So a friend and I were watching this video from Parkers Reef and we like the way the gentleman elevates his zoa frags off the bottom. He says it helps them grow and helps keep them clean. Cool side effect is you basically wind up with a "zoa tree" as they grow. In thinking of a more "elegant" method of achieving this effect than gluing multiple frag plugs together I started to think of what I could use. I already have quite a few stemless frag discs laying around and started thinking of what to use in between them. I think the idea I like the best is just using a stem and gluing a disc on either end. At first I thought of using acrylic rod but I think that would get dirty, nasty, etc so I am after something else.
What I settled on is some kind of ceramic rod, made from a similar material to standard kiln fired frag plugs we use, that i can cut to whatever length I would want it to be. Has anyone seen anything like this? All I am able to find are high end rods for some scientific purpose I do not understand.
If someone knows where to find something like this I would love to know. Or maybe someone out here has a better idea? I am going completely off the top of my head here so suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!
