Not sure what this is - I assume some sort of fungus. It had been building up for months, and to be honest the torch had been super healthy up until a day and a half ago. Because it was so healthy and showing no signs of stress, I thought nothing of the fuzzy slimy stuff on the sides of the coral.

well, over the course of a day and a half, I lose two heads. I can only assume it’s because of this stuff.

My biggest concern right now is what I need to do with everything else in my tank. None of the other corals have any of this buildup, but I have a handful of really big corals that I don’t want to lose. I have a small coral QT with new-ish corals awaiting transfer, so I could move things there if needed.

Second question - do I toss this thing immediately, oram I okay trying to save it?

Third question is... what the heck is this? It doesn’t easily come off when I rub it - it almost feels like slimy rubber...

It almost looks like some of the sponges that pop up from time to time in my tank but they certainly don't feel slimy. I'm curious what other think because I would have said sponge except for the slime feel of it.

It does have the consistency of like... a pineapple sponge. It’s just fully surrounding the coral. This may be a red herring, if it’s just a harmless sponge. Maybe it got stung or something.
