Strange looking red shell on lr

Hello, this is my first post on here but I've been lurking on this site for awhile I just can't seem to id this critter. Maybe I'm just looking at a weird angle? here is a picture, all help is appreciated

Maybe a vermetid snail?

Does it fish in the current with a net made of snot?

Those things are huge! I thought vermetid are teeny?

There are a crazy number of different species of vermetid and some are pretty large.

In that first photo I would have swore I was looking at a juvenile octopus with its eye looking back at me.

I also didn't know they could get that big, this is one of the reasons I lurk the hitchhikers board at least once a week. Always something to learn.
