This is a serious bummer. But this guy just came out of my QT/Hospital tank last week and got added to my macro/lps display.

Didn't eat much in QT but eats a decent amount in the display. Feeding mostly F1 pellets and TDO Chrome Small which it prefers.

No signs of ich/velvet etc as he was in a tank with copper and prazi.

Doesn't exhibit any scratching behavior and swims out in the open if I'm not near the tank. Breathing rate is normal. The nodule really most resembles a white headed pimple and protrudes out.

I'm wondering if I need to get him back in QT/Hospital with Melafix or some other treatment or if there's anything that can be done. Really don't want to do that if possible because it will stress the fish and it's barely eating as is.

You can see it right above the eye.

Looks like possibly an anchor worm. I have had fish deal with that for long periods of time without treatment. They are a pain to get rid of. Tough call especially if he eats better in the display.

When you quarantined dis you keep him in hypo salinity?

I'm beginning to think it's lymphocytes. It's one large thing, and not a bunch of small dots like velvet or ich. Lymphocytes seems to be more common in angels.

Did not do Hypo because I was running chelated copper.

Agreed lympho is prolific in angels, but in my experience it tends to form mainly on the fishes fins not the head. But anything is possible. If it is lympho I would leave it alone, stress related and usually goes away on its own.

Can you get any more pics, maybe a little more close up to the mystery at hand?

I have had a type of anchor previously that made itself apparent after quarantine, similar to your situation, and not be lots of different spots but just one or two near that lateral area of the forehead.

These things can be tricky.
