Hey I am new to saltwater tanks and have a question, I have noticed today there are orange spots on my rocks in the tank. They I set the tank up last Monday 2/11/19. I tested the water everyday and there have been no signs of a cycle happening yet only ammonia at .25ppm. From what I read, diatoms occur in newly cycled tank so idk if that’s what it could be. Anyone have any insight.

Your tank is new, you will go through some ugly stages for a bit. Diatoms, Hair algea. The rock looks like it is dry rock? Picture is blued out but my money goes to diatoms. Are you using RODI?

looks normal as stated above,
i would not ever use tap water, get RO/DI water either by purchasing it at LFS or get a RO/DI and filter your tap water

also what are your other water parameters and a pic of you full tank and sump if you have one would be nice
