Strange particles in Tropic Marin Pro (Turkey)

Opened a locally sourced batch of Tropic Marin Pro and noticed what initially appeared to be pieces of clear plastic/glass.

As you can see it's not just a couple of pieces but a significant amount mixed in with various size pieces.

I took a few pieces out and mixed them in a cup of RODi and they disolved fairly easily.

Has anyone come across this before?

So its salt? You said it dissolves completely into RO/DI?

Looks like a little got wet maybe? got wet, turned hard, then got mixed in, or not broken up during the mixing?

I guess if it's salt, then not much to worry about.

Ya I agree with you on this. The salt must have been exposed to moisture at some point causing clumping. You can probably take it back for a German one if you really wanted to.

That wasn't purchased recently was it? Turkish sourced TMP should be off the shelves.

now, if you like puzzle, you could try and put back all pieces together to see what shape it will have

It did disolve... And I may or may not have done a taste test. It may or may not have been salty.

Moisture exposure is what I was thinking, it's just weird how it's almost uniform thickness of chunks, as if it was a sheet of glass that was shattered.

I'll do a WC 10% and have another 50% WC of old "normal" TMP on standby incase it goes sideways.

It was purchased second hand on FB marketplace so no returns. It was brand new and sealed.

I cannot believe someone would sell that secondhand knowing it was not supposed to be in circulation. Hopefully it was an honest mistake.

No problem as long as the buyer knew what they were buying, which I'm going to assume was the case in this instance. I'm sure this bucket was sold for far less than the original selling price due to the issues with it.

This is NOT Pro Reef salt! This is our Tropic Marin Reef Mix or Tropic Marin Zoo Mix which are BOTH store use only products. These chips that you are seeing are Magnesium flake that is contained in those products intentionally by formula. These store use only products are only sold in 230 gallon sacks. If you bought this from someone, second hand, and it was in a bucket, then it was repacked by them! This should not be sold to hobbyists for the simple reason that it is important to mix a minimum gallon quantity at a time to insure the proper Mg concentration in the resulting solution.

If you PM me your information and phone number, I'd be happy to call and explain more about this. And if you are comfortable sharing your source, we would love to be able to correct this situation with your seller to prevent this from happening again to other hobbyists.
