Hi,

My scoly has had a rather strange looking mouth for maybe the last week or so. Still looked fluffy and opened at night, so I wasn't too worried, but it didn't open last night so I figured it was worth asking about.

I should mention I had a nutrient spike recently (treated bryopsis and my phosphate + nitrate spiked), but the phosphate is back in check. Nitrate is around 17 ppm.

I suspect the scoly is irritated by my Copperband... I see him "inspecting" the mouth and pecking on it some throughout the day.

Anybody had a similar experience?

Alk: 8.99
CA: 457
MG: 1385
pH: 8.1-8.3
temp: 77.4F - 77.9F
Salinity: 33.6 ppt
PO4: 0.06 ppm

I also have a "nibbler" (midnight dwarf angel) who's been picking at my trachy maze brain. It's starting to recede in the center so I think it may not recover (why is it that fish never let us have nice corals?) Here's hoping your scoly fares better than my brain...

I appreciate the sentiment... He doesn't look too aggressive about it. I think he might just be looking in the hole for some worms... Did the same to my electric flame scallop.

I'll continue to keep an eye on it and report back.

The other thought I had was that it was in too bright of a spot. Just measured ~ 180 PAR right next to it... Going to move it closer to the ark.
