From the thread above, it sounds like @AquaBiomics can ID the microbes that cause white band disease. If that IS the problem, I wonder if treating the tank with a broad spectrum antibiotic would help.

I didn’t notice any tulip polyps or hyperplasia. I am carbon dosing at 1ml for 100 gallons a day.

interesting that it mentioned carbon dosing when I looked those things up. Brown/white band disease is looking plausible to me.

This is doxycycline. I use this (1/8 teaspoon), metronidazole (API General Cure, 1/8 teaspoon), and amoxicillin (1/2 capsule) in 500 ml of tank water as a coral bath for 1-2 hours with periodic stirring daily for 2-5 days

Rationale is metronidazole for ciliates, amoxicillin for broad spectrum, and doxycycline for weird stuff (notably rickettsial infection).

I have successfully stopped tissue loss with this mix several times. My thought is that the stressed coral becomes susceptible to bacterial or other infection. Once the brunt of the infection is halted, the coral’s immune system can recover and stop additional spread.

Meanwhile the Walt Disney (slightly blurry) infront shows great polyp extension along with all the other tenuis in the frag tank.

The frag in the OP has been slowly dying for 65+ days now. The homewrecker, much smaller has been like this for almost a month and slowly deteriorating.

There is one other sps frag that has been declining for 43days.

All in there are about 50 sps frags in the system. I expect this will continue and wipe them all out if I can find the culprit, but I’m hitting dead ends.

Have you sent out an ICP test? I believe aquabiomics was using cipro on some things. I don't think you need to go that route? Are you familiar with witch hazel?

ICP test will be here tomorrow then. I Can send it out. I’m unfamiliar with witch hazel.

Treatment for rtn with witch hazel

I start used witch hazel 30 ml daily after light turn off . I dosing in the tank the stn and rtn stop and the coral begins to recovery everything look better is my 5 dose I plan to dosing for 14 days .

I wonder if these are the problem, or just some wee beasties that happen to be around.

If you don't have a bunch of ornamental crabs and shrimp maybe Interceptor is in your future.

I don’t have any way to get interceptor unfortunately.

It doesn’t sound like there is much else I can do to protect my sps :/

If this is black bugs/mites causing it, I really despise them.

Super easy to get rid. Not sure of its what is causing the issue. When I had black bugs on my acros they were clearly visible crawling up and down them.
