Strange stringy thingy on live rock

hey all. I'm bored and am curious if anybody knows what this stringy thing is. It appeared one day at a couple inches long and then grew to about 5 or 6 inches until I pulled it out of there. (It kinda fell apart when I did) it's now back and larger than ever to the point of folding over in the current.
It's a newly set up tank with dry rock and some live sand and it's still going through a cycle.
It's hard to see but it's in the middle of the photo and to the right.

I find long hairs of mine in the tank all the time...I have no idea how they get there haha

I don't know now it looks green and has spread quite a bit. Looks like stringy algae. I'll try and get a pic later

Lol there was plenty of dog and cat hair in there until the floss filtered it out.
