After 4 very stressful months of alk spikes and color fading which I thought it was a goner, it has finally grown a baby!
I am planning on fragging it once it grows a bit more and seeing if the melting rumors are true.

Yes the melting rumors are true
Have you personally had it happen to you? Iv read that people say their colony melted after fragging one and wondering how could that be? I mean mine has been really temperamental and only accepts stability

Yes I had it happen to me
A lot of zoas grow fast and spread like weeds
When there is a new zoa in the hobby. Sometimes it’s a high price. The online guys Jack it up. Which causes excitement. Like I must have the new thing on the block. Sone grow fast and prices crash. Others grow nice but are prone to melting when disturbed
Such as change in water chemistry or dragging them.

True, though the strat seems to uphold his status through out the years- I am hoping I can grow a bunch and knock a bit off that 1500$ for other reefers. But at this rate of growth and it’s temperamental nature it’s gonna be a while

Good luck with it! I have seen a few people successfully frag them but i still dont know how it went long term.

I still want to make the plunge at somepoint for a real strat. I do have the next best thing though, these guys are a little hardier and grow decently quick

Is that the aqua ops troposphere?

Why not let it just grow onto a plug over time vs cutting it?

a few years ago now a lady in our reef club paid $800 p/p for 2 separate frags only to have them melt inside 2 weeks. I hate to say it but it felt like it was a lesson she needed to learn.

Yeah its the aqua ops troposphere, i started with 1 head and i already have 3 after a few weeks. Definitely alot easier to keep than true strats and very similar colors.
Dang that’s awesome I’ve been wanting one of those. Glad to hear they are pretty quick growers, they look amazing too that color is legit.

Jose at aquatic ops is great to deal with too. Theres currently a waiting list for the tropospheres so if you want one definitely hit him up, or at this rate ill have some frags in a few weeks.
