So got a few frags today of what is claimed to be shortcake. At store the body looked a little white. But did have pinkish tips... Do these look OK? First few are in tank now, and others were at store...
My rations are on max right now and whites 100 percent...

polyp extension looks fine, colors are way off, if well cared for it will regain colors.

I ws told they were just fragged yesterday... Would that explain white color??? Does that look like Shortcake??

Whites at %100 is not usually a good idea for fresh frags... or any frags. Which type of whites are they - some can do terrible damage at high intensity and some are fine.

That does look like a wild, imported shortcake.

yes, that explain the white color it is just needs time. yes these looks like wild collected ssc. acropora microclados and not a specific linage.

The power isn't 100 percent the color white is. Radions are at 60 percent and par where those SC are is 275

because they are freshly imported from the wild, then fraged then added to new tank. it is a good thing that these frags are still alive

OK should I lower power? Or just white lights down??

you can relocate the frags in another lower light area in the tank. that way other corals will not be effected by light change

Here is coral under blues... Still looks white. All my other acros seem To have there respective color..

Guys,
I am more of an LPS guy, acros are newer to me. The first few frags I picked up stayed the same color as when I picked them up. This is the first one that came in white looking.... Seems like feeders are out. That is a good sign correct??? Does it take a few days for Color to come back???

Can take weeks or months for color to come back to a acro. Best thig to do is start it at lower par and raise it up over a few weeks.

This sucks... I would not have bought these... They were 30 a frag and I guess that's cheap, but still... Would rather start with a healthy piece....

Welcome to the SPS world...the thing with SPSs they will teach you patience. Just be patience put the frag in a low lit area keep your parameters stable and enjoy the ride...once it colors you will really appreciate the beauty this piece will add to your tank.

Wild acro colors will fade, turn brown then when it decide to color back up it will take weeks even months. Newly frag wild is difficult to color up especially if not acclimated in the same water where it was cut from. Fresh cut frags has a usual wait time of at least 2 weeks from sellers.

I can tell you one of the 2 has slight pink tips today under the blue light.....

Yeah that frag will take a while to color back up. I would just leave it at this point as moving it anymore will just stress it out more. Personally it looks like a wild caught strawberry shortcake and won’t always do well in people’s tank and or the coloring will take a long time. Also if it was just recently fragged, it would’ve been better if it at least acclimated loner like a week. I know that’s not always the case with vendors.

For example this is a true strawberry shortcake I just picked up yesterday. It was fragged a week ago.

Either way, don’t give up. I’m sure it’ll eventually look great!

I picked another true frag up last night just like this. I moved one of the 2 frags and left the other, I have these side by side to see comparison... Not poly extension yet though... [emoji20]
This was it at store:

Well not having polyp extension right away is not the end of the world. I can assure you it’ll bounce back. How are your sps/acros doing?

It’ll be helpful if you post all your parameters/tank specifics.

Just started up SPS in this tank. Mostly lps in this tank... I added a few Acros in the last few weeks. They all seem to be doing well. Have Polyp Extension..... As well as retained coloration...

Parameters are as follows....
Salinity 1.026
PH 8.05
Alk 8.5
Mag 1350
Calcium 440
No3 0- .03
Phosphates .05

I do a continuous water change with an Apex Dos, which adds and removes 2 gallons a day of Red Sea SW.
I also dos 2 part via and apex dos. 12 MG a day of calcium and alk. I can tell you my calcium and alk dropped when I added all these sps. I raised the dos over a 2 week period and brought numbers up...

Here are others...
All under blues sorry
