Strawberry Shortcake RTN???

We got a Strawberry Shortcake frag about a month ago. It has been super happy great polyp extension and color... But I woke up today to see this...

I also attached pictures from yesterday...

Please help. Is this rtn? What can I do to try to save my ssc?

As soon as you can superglue above the RTN area, otherwise the entire coral will perish. Immediately check that your alkalinity isn't off.

Don't be afraid of sacrificing some of the healthy tissue, if any of the RTN tissue remains connected to the healthy area it will continue the RTN.

This practice is similar to how they stop forest fires, by pre-burning areas to keep the fire from continuing through the forest.

That frag is just too small to frag. Super glue essentially does the same thing if applied properly. That's what I've started doing in lieu of fragging.

I had this happen to mine. I had it for a few months and was growing great, then one morning ingot up and it's completely gone. I hope yours pulls through for you.

The one thing I did notice is it still has polyp extension on the top... Minimal but at least i can still see it.

Got it glued.. Now to play the waiting game. The bright side of this, it still has pretty color and minor polyp extension on the top. I am crossing my fingers it goes well.

If the p04 was checked with a reliable meter, .25 is way to high for SPS

Did a param test....
Salinity: 1.025
Kh: 10
pH: 8.0
No3: 0
Phosphates: less than 0.25
Calcium: 460
Tank temp: 77.2

Our phosphates test is an API kit... not always the best. It wasn't on the color of .25 but it also wasn't at 0 so there is a trace amount of phosphates but we did baster the rock work pretty extensively last night.

I understand, just please know if you are serious about keeping SPS, do yourself a huge favor and invest in a Hanna. Trust me, you need to know exactly were P04 levels are, or you are throwing money away on SPS.

Mehhhhhhh I am going to disagree with this comment. You can successful without a Hannah meter. I personally have never had a Hannah checker ad I know of full fledged colorful SPS reefs where they use a test kit.
There is never a direct answer as to what happens during RTN and why is happens but it does and all you can do is preform damage control if your water parameters are all ok.
