I have two eheim jager heaters 300 watts each. I noticed the milliamps is .04. When i unplug one it drops to zero. Total Voltage is around 2 to 5 volts. Is this real amperage?

Maybe but not enough to matter. A GFI trips at 4 milliamps. You have .04. I think the last time I tested my tank I had .004 at 30v. I dropped in a ground probe.

Yes i have stray voltage and also .04 milliamps

OHHH I read that has 0.04 amps. I wouldnt think 40 microamps (word?) would matter much but I am not sure. I jumped in because if you were at 40 miliamps that would be a problem!

I wonder if my digitial multimeter needs a new battery?

I plugged in both eheim heaters again. The first one jumps from .01 milliamps to .04 milliamps. Plug the second one in and it jumps to .06 milliamps. As i wait for 5 minutes the milliamps slowly climb up to .12 milliamps. It slowy keeps climbing. Thats weird.

Update, i started getting a small tingle from the two eheim heaters i had with .03 milliamps and 2.5 volts. I took all my heaters out and use an electric fan heater in the room. Temp is 76f now instead of 79f. Im also using 1500 watts instead of 600 watts of heaters.

Also this is the second time my fish stopped eating from amperage in the water.

GFCI and ground probe! 2.5V should not be enough to feel althought I am not an electrician. Have your fish started acting normal after you pulled the heaters out?
Yes i should have both. Yes they are getting better now that current isnt leaking into the tank. I also notice my montipora coral pales a bit from it.

I would not run a ground probe without a GFCI. Very dangerous.

@Brew12
I agree. There is nothing in my tank now thats electrical. I have two external pumps and lights. I may get a gfci for the rest now though.
