That's a very comfortable spot you got put in, as peacocks often die on molts when not in ideal conditions and being in the bag - > having to put it in the tank has to be the worst scenario.

3 times per week is sufficient
I'd wait a few days before trying, typically when they molt its a 1-2 week process and they close themselves in for awhile, this one obviously couldn't close up which was the major concern so i'd leave room+lights as dark as possible for first few days and see how it is. They need to be able to create large U-shaped completely dark burrows so if you have decor rocks with holes you may want to plug them as much as possible and give it rubble to make its burrow entrance doors. When they don't have those conditions they usually die which was the major concern with it molting in the bag, seems like the worst has past and you're in the clear just waiting for it to eat again.
Normally I'd say leave the molt for it to eat but I see visible shell rot on it which you probably don't want to keep old infected shell in.

Glad I threw the molt away then. Thanks for the advice. There is little rubble for it so guess a trip to a friendly fish shop is in order. Intend to get some snails for it to snack on as well.
