Hi all,
Looking for some advice or maybe confirmation- I am a newbie and I need to understand what is happening.
Tank details:
Set up in January this year
75 gallon
2 pajama cardinals
1 diamond goby
1 bicolored blenny
1 neon goby
All kinds of snails & crabs
Problem is my clownfish stock
Currently 4 clowns
I added 4 clownfish from my breeder in town with 2 being 1.5” and 2 being 1” fish. Hoping that they would break off into pairs.
Due to my own mistakes as a new hobbiest I lost 1 clown ( one of the larger 1.5”) at the beginning of June. I waited 3 weeks to make sure everything with my tank was stable and for my own nerves before adding another clown.
This past Friday I picked up a new clownfish but this one was much larger than the other 3 that currently reside in the tank. The thinking was that the 3 would not gang up on the new arrival.
Friday night into Saturday the new fish and my larger clown were working things out. That seemed to settle down on Saturday.
Yesterday I noticed my 2 smaller ones were then having problems. 1 of them kept ramming the other and forcing it into 1 spot in the tank chasing it back if it should try to leave.
This morning all of my clowns are laying on the sand looking stressed out. No one is fighting now but they are all just curled up on the sand bed.
I am wondering if I need to start a 2nd tank and pull 2 of the clowns out so I have just 1 pair in there?
I just don’t know what to do for them at this point. I know people have said only 1 pair of clowns per tank but the breeder said with a 75 gallon they should pair up and have plenty of room to have their own space. All 4 of them seem like they only think the tank consists of the left side- never venturing to the right.
