Hi everyone. I bought a tomani tang 7 days ago. Its very shy and it just got ick 3 days ago. I have been feeding metroplex mixed with focus to help it. Its 90% better (only saw 3 ick spots today so its working). corals have not been afected at all, all look happy, colorful and open. I just noticed the tang had a scrape from hiding im assuming. Is it ok to use AIP stress coat + to help him heal and calm down? (Thats what i do with my fresh water fish).

So basically the reason it got ich is due to stress of new environment which it has been introduced into. Make sure to use the metroplex for as long as the directions say to.

However, although you said all your corals look happy, I would be careful in using that in the tank you have. Such medicine is not reef safe and can cause corals to die off in the future especially if it leaches into the rock or sand or the corals eat the food.

Also how big is that tank?

And I have no personal experiences with the API stress coat however since the fish did get ich and has the wound the best way to go about this is to give it the nutrition it needs and improve its immune system. Feed it plenty of nori and a variety of frozen and dry foods. Also look into any vitamin supplements for fish.

Thanks. Yeah i read adding the medicine with focus will help the corals be safe. Hopefully in a couple of weeks i will have a quarentine/ hospital tank to do it the right way. The tank is a 30 gal (soon to be 60 gal in a week) (later to be a 150 gal in the next year). Its eating great so that is good. I am feeding a mixture of pelets and missy shrimp, an algae wafer every other day and puting dry algie sheets in 1-2 times a week. I always say,as long as they eat they will survive haha.

Ideally you need to move your fish into a hospital tank and let your tank go fallow. Otherwise, the ich will continue to reproduce and can always be there to infect your fish.

You should providing nori seaweed practically every day or every 2 days, tangs needs an ample amount of seaweed since that is there food in nature and helps keep there immune system healthy.

Ok will start with that. Thanks for the tip. I thought the algie wafers where enough. With 2 algie sheets a week. Learning hehe.

Yeah. Just dont have a quarentine tank... i need to get one for next time something happens. Lesson learned.
