Since the stoppage of collection in Hawaii, I've noticed numerous vendors (no names), including ones in this site, suddenly offering "completely aquacultured Hawaiian fish"
No doubt they are (probably) aquacultured, as the colors are off...
They are sold as pairs, or at a nicely inflated price always followed with "get them now cause we can't collect anymore and who knows blah blah blah"
What are your thoughts? How thorough is the average hobbyists understanding of what's actually happening in Hawaii? Do we have months of this ahead of us?
It's a matter of opinion of course, and to each their own, but me personally - I don't care if his holiness the pope captive bred yellow tangs, I'm not paying the gut wrenching price for a HLLE ridden fish. It's more cruel to breed them deformed than to catch them in a sustainable manner. Sorry for the rant! That is all.
