String/plastic debis in Red Sea salt blue bucket

Anyone encounter strings of plastic or string in their Red Sea blue bucket? I’ve been avid user but this is frustrating as sifting all of it out is difficult and I’m afraid it will get into my system. I sent email thru their website but no response.

I've only been through 3 of the smaller buckets so i'm a small sample size, but no I haven't seen anything like this so far.

I quit using RSCP salt because of debris like this. And the alk was anywhere from 11-13.5! I’m done with Red Sea

It's the remains of shredded storage bags they use I'm sure. I had large clumps of it in the past. They will float and you can just swipe it from the surface.

The plastic pieces are added to make a more realistic ocean habitat. That way your corals and fish won't get home sick.

I used to find those in the black bucket RS salt and it pushed me to switch back to reef crystals. No point in paying twice as much for something full of debris

I've yet to see that in my RSCP, but maybe I'm just lucky, I would probably still use it as long as it's not bucket after bucket of fibers.

I used the Blue Bucket for over an year.
During that time span, I never saw that.

I’ve never seen that in years of use. Red Sea is typically very responsive to customer service requests, so hopefully they will get back to you. It looks like plastic and probably floats. Throw it in a bucket of water and see.

Thanks for all the feedback. Red Sea customer service got back with me and are replacing the bucket. Thankfully the sponsors on these forums all stand by their products. Have a great Holiday week to all.

Really? When I contacted them about the exact same issue with LARGE clumps of the stuff they essentially told me it happens, no big deal and that was all.....

EDIT: Here's the actual quote from the email: "We were notified by our manufacturing facility that on rare occasions, part of the salt sack may get pulled into the mixing vat and these material is harmless to the reef"
