I know that stringy poop is A possible sign of internal parasites, but is that the only thing that can cause it?

I’ve been doing (what I thought) a good job with QT and pre treatment of all my fish and noticed that my clown has some stringy poop.

I have experienced this recently. Going from fish only to reef I've had and outbreak of hair algae. In my case my damsels are eating it. And its coming out looking the same as it was going in. Is this happening in your tank?

No diet, stress, etc. White stringy poop is often an indicator of internal worm but my fish have had on occasion and its goes away. How long have you noticed this going on?
