Got my radium for my JBJ HQI nano hood, all is well except when I reinstalled the spashguard....one of the cheap butt screws completely stripped....anyone know of a good "safe" way to extract it? And where one could get some brass screws to replace the chepos? they are fully exposed to the water, dunno why they didnt use brass to begin with.

Are you sure brass is what you want??? Stainless steal I think is what you should get. It is more resistant to corosion than brass.

I thought brass was best for marine use? I just need to get the stripped one out and put ones in that wont breakdown on me.

Ideas for safely removeing the stripped one? worse comes to worse I could always order a new splashguard....

I remove stripped screws normally with a left turn drill bit, they useally bite while drilling off the head and come right out. if not after you drill off the head you can grab it after the part is removed with pliers or vise grips. good luck

JR,

I'm pretty sure copper is an ingredient in brass. Not what you want in a reef tank.

I had brass hooks under my 120 tank in the stand to hold wires and things. With in days, just from evaporation they were fuzzy with rust and nastys.
