So I bought a smurfette milli from at a local frag swap about 7 months ago ... paid a nice $$ for it as I love millis and this one is rare and super awesome in purple color.

However, as it is just still sitting in the tank looking like I just got it a week ago. Has not started to encrust or anything. Absolutely ZERO growth. Additionally, all my other frags I bought at the swap, are all growing and doing great!

In fact, all the other millis I have in my tank grow like weeds.

Should I try moving the placement of this frag to another spot in the tank?

The current spot it has all the main things it needs ... Lighting (it is towards the top of the tank, about 75% up) water movement is great, etc.

Could be pests on it. Did you dip it? Millies are notorious for having AEFW.

Any algae growing around the base of the coral?

I am not sure what you are referring to about the "dc" (sorry) but I am assuming it may be that one .. that's sort of a bummer that no one has gotten theirs to grow ... that tough of a coral huh?

Well actually, there is what looks to be a very thin outer ring of brown around the base of the coral. So to be more detailed, the frag plug and the top of the plug is white with nothing on it, but it looks as if there may be a very thin brown something almost under the frag (between the frag and the glue/frag plug) ... but there is some algae in my tank and all the other sps just grow right over it and still grow fine.

Yeah some algae don't bother my corals or stop them from spreading but some of the red turf algae can be really aggressive and actually overgrow small coral fragments that haven't encrusted yet. Sounds like that's probably not the issue at hand. Definitely give that coral a dip to make sure it doesn't have AEFW.

Was it fresh cut or already encrusted some?

It was fresh cut ... also, in terms of looks, it looks great and still has polyp extension, and the surface looks great with no signs of anything on it. Just wont grow.
