So I have had this Duncan about a year and I'm so frustrated with it. No growth. Period. No flowy tentacles. No new heads. It just survives. I feed it, Consistent water changes, good lighting. I can't figure out why it won't grow! I get my water tested by my LFS and they say all is well! Is there a secret I'm missing?? Am I not whispering enough sweet nothings into its little three heads?? I'm thinking flow but in the last year I have stuck that bad boy in every inch of my tank trying to find something it likes.

Welcome to R2R!
The polyps look like their in a little too much flow. It looks healthy just needs a little less flow IMO. I have my colony in an area of Med to Med-High flow but I started them off in Med flow until they became well established. Here's my colony that started off as 2 heads a year ago.

No. You need to invest in good test kits for, at minimum, Kh, Ca and Mg. If you're going to have SPS then the big 3 plus No3 and Po4. Spend the extra money to get a good test kit, it will save you allot of heartache and $$ down the road. ;) JMO

Never had duncans before, but does the lighting make a difference? And my tank maintenance is terrible for anything outside of "beginner" corals..not to mention the lack of a budget to buy better equipment as well.

i have seen you're other post so....
if you feed for almost a year, cons. water changes and there is no growth your def. on a wrong track....and things can not be well
thats just me;)

I've kept a few duncs in the past and they've all done better in lower flow. Just enough to wave the polyps gently. They also seem to like a good amount of light. More than an acan would like but of course less than typical sps. Somewhere in the middle :)

They like to listen to slayer.....turned up loud. good luck!

Who doesn't like that?!? [emoji869][emoji869]

Your do need to have good lighting as they rely on zooxanthellae for most of their food. Feeding helps, you just have to watch your nutrient levels with good testers.

Ive noticed after moving mine around to different areas as well that it can take a week or so before it starts extending again. After moving it be patient.
