Tank is just over a year old, running well, except for high nitrates but corals are growing and happy so I'm not as concerned. My issue is the tank water is not clear. It's not cloudy but has "stuff" in the water column at all levels.

Not sure if problem is with skimmer (AIO RSM c250) or if there are a lot of swimming pods or just "stuff" and debris. Tank has a good size pod population and I add to it on a monthly basis as I culture my own. Is this a normal thing or something not quite right

I last cleaned out skimmer in October. Do I need to take pump apart if it is a skimming issue?

Are you running filter socks or any other type of mechanical filtration? could be microbubbles from the skimmer.

the all in one sump in back of tank has 2 sponge filters. To try to cut nitrates, I cut them in thirds so I could change them out more often but I noticed last time I cleaned out one side, there was still a lot of debris in the chamber. Was actually going to take them out totally to see if it would be better. don't appear to be micro bubbles.

I’d take out a glass and see if it settles.
I get build up from to time to time in my return chamber that get sent to the DT. You can add a polishing floss before or on the return pump to see if that’s it.

I do also run a higher return rate that keeps stuff in the sump rather than the DT.

It coukd very well be microbubbles from the skimmer. They almost like look sand particles in water. My only form of filtration is my skimmer. I do have slight microbubbles, and particulate in my water at all times. It doesnt bother me. Ocean water isnt 100% clear either.
