How exactly do I dose stump remover to get my nitrates up a little it's at 0 an the overfeeding isn't helping loosing corals as well do I need to shut skimmer off an what's the exact dosage for about 100 gallons

You can also use Seachem Nitrogen, with a formula adjusted to raise nitrates: 0.05vm=n, where v is volume in gallons, m is desired nitrate level in ppm or mg/L, same thing, and n is the amount of Seachem to add.

Ok cool I'm look into it I dosed 10ml of stump remover earlier gonna test see where my ppms are an if still at zero I'll dose a few more mls just to get it up atleast 4ppm

Go slow brother, test in 24 hours then add more. (You can rest easy knowing it is in there).

What are you using for export methods? Carbon dosing? Refuguim?

I stopped the carbon for now was using phosgaurd to bring down the phosphate it was .9 but if I'm wright I hear the potassium nitrate brings the po4 down so should I take out phosgaurd an put carbon back?

What are your phosphates at now? What you don't want to happen is to have NO3 and no PO4 it can have REALLY bad effects on your corals. So just be careful with the Phosguard to not remove all of your PO4. I'd use a small amount and bring them down slowly. You can leave you carbon in, it won't affect anything.

Carbon dosing will lower NO3 and to a lesser extent the PO4, the trick is not to let either one reach zero. You want some of both.

Yea that's wat I'm at I'm gonna remove the guard an just add the carbon an try to keep Po4 an no3 at balance phosphates last time I checked was at .9

phosguard only lasts for a short period of time, as in days, so taking it out wasn't a bad thing. Rick is correct, Phosguard strips PO4 quickly, so be careful with it and measure PO4 frequently.

So is this something that last long term or do I always have to test an dose?

Phosguard? It's a very short term solution to get phosphates down quickly. A better solution would be GFO, Brightwell's X-Port PO4 cubes, Brightwell's PhosphatR, for short term, Brightwell's Phosphate-E, the list goes on for phosphate remover. I'm using a Fauna Marin product called Ultra Phos 0.04 Phosphate remover and it's working well, states that it won't let PO4 drop below 0.04, though I have yet to test that.
If you use Phosguard you should add it and test it over 3-4 days. With the other products (minus Phosphate-E which you have to test daily), you don't necessarily need to test that much, but it's not a bad idea to test a lot if your parameters are out of whack...

Ok thanks man I really appreciate u takin the time out to give me info

Let's get an expert in here though to give you better info, @twilliard is definitely a pro when it comes to stump remover dosing, he can help you figure it out and explain more. Also, you should probably find out why you are getting zero nitrates. Are you using biopellets? carbon dosing? GAC? really strong skimming? how many fish do you have? They help increase nitrates a lot, even cheap little mollies will adapt to saltwater.

No biopellets no carbon dosing no gac I was feeding pellets only due to a dino an cyano break out an I only got 4 fish in my 80 gallon rr deep blue

You could use more fish, that would help. Amazing that you got down to zero NO3 without an explicit nutrient removal system, but every tank is different.

Yea I do have a big protien skimmer on the tank tho it's a reef octopus

what kind, some larger than rated Reef Octo skimmers have been known to strip NO3. I have a friend who has to run his Reef Octo for only 12 hours a day to get it normal...
