Stupid Fish

I have a three inch yellow tang that I bought about six weeks ago. The other day, I found a beautiful breeding pair (they’ve laid eggs) of Clarkii clowns. I love Clarkii clowns! The best part is that they’re about 4 inches long... they are the perfect size to not get bullied. They are the biggest, most mature fish in the tank. I acclimated them and put them in, only to have the tang threaten them and try to cut them up. That scared them for about 15 hours. Then the male found the female hovering in the corner and, together, they came out fighting! Now the tang can’t get far enough away. He sees a clown coming near and he zooms to the other side.

Stupid tang! Do any of you have a stupid fish?

They're not stupid ... most fish are territorial regardless.

If you anthropomorphize them they're stupid; if you think of them as fish, then they just do what they do.

Sounds like they were smart enough to work it out without killing each other. Hummm.... humans aren't always able to do this

Stupid tang! Do any of you have a stupid fish?

I don't have any fish yet...but I'm looking forward to getting my first stupid fish! I did like reading how the tables turned.

The tang will grow, they are stubborn usually, expect every time your clowns lay eggs, about every 2 weeks, it's going to be hovering near, and what you saw will most likely continue.
I have had a YT tailswipe clowns and open them up pretty good before, I have to agree w/ cracker on that one, YT's are buggers.

I have a lavendar tang, it's so much more peaceful, never bugs clowns or their eggs, neither did my tenennti's, but pretty much every YT did bother

I chuckled a bit reading about your tang. I have a clown that I call 'Munch'... he bites me every time my hand goes in the tank! He also bullies the other fish, even those bigger than him. He will even attack the heater, the powerheads, the rocks, the probes... you name it. Charges right up to whatever and attacks. The tank is lightly stocked - 4 fish, 2 snails, 2 corals, so it's not like there isn't room for everyone. Just a deranged fish.
