My return pump quit a few weeks back and i just replaced it this past week. In the sump was probably 20lbs of sand and about 20 lbs of rock. i tossed the sand as i knew it would be storing all kinds of nastyness that i didnt need. the rock however i decided to stick right in the display and now i have red slime showing up. no clue why i didnt think i needed to cycle that rock. dumb dumb dumb. there is a total of 100 gallons in the system and i have about 150lbs of rock in the display. Should be ok with a few water changes right?

Water changes and add some beneficial bacteria to balance things out again. Like Microbacter 7 or Microbe-Lift Special Blend
