So ive been in the hobby for 5 years and now just wondering is PH, Alkalinity? Or is it phosphate? It sounds stupid but Is a PH Probe a Alkalinity probe to test for alkalinity?

Ph is something along the lines of oxygen in the water. Alkalinity would be Kh, phosphate would be po4
Thank You, I am wanting to get a cal reactor and seeing I need a PH Probe but wasn’t sure what it tested forNone of the above
Stoopid answer but I am on a phone and typing a longer one would be gibberish
PH is the relative acid base balance in your tank
7 is neutral. Not acid or base
Tanks are around 8 which is slightly basic
Alk does effect the value but so do other things like CO2 from the air
Pin point makes a good probe for around 100 bucks. I got lucky because a buddy of mine bought a hydros system and gave me his fairly new pin point!Thank You, I am wanting to get a cal reactor and seeing I need a PH Probe but wasn’t sure what it tested for

Ive always been just a water change guy until I got my 90g and water changes are now becoming pricey. I am also traveling alot so I want to make sure my Cal and Alk are stable for Periods of time without needing a water changeIn the case of a cal reactor you use CO2 to make an acid that dissolves the calcium. The pH probe tells you how it is working
Hi, given the question, may I ask why you want a calcium reactor?Thank You, I am wanting to get a cal reactor and seeing I need a PH Probe but wasn’t sure what it tested for
