Stylo woes

So I got a NEM that is Bass Ackwards, Water thats too clean, A Stylo that wont grow, A Mantis Shrimp that bonded to a goby....

WHAT IS REEFING????????

So I left for a month for work. My talbot damsel,Mr Jerkface, SHREDDED my dsb, shredded. Mrs was at a loss. I had also just added my t5s. It killed pretty much all my coralline algae.
When I got home the refugium had exploded, the skimmer had stopped.
and My Acro in the tank had Quadrupled in size. I had to sell on colony of green stylo because it got too big for the tank, zoas popping babies, cyphastrea out of control..
Only took me three months to figure out why that happened.

Its pretty fun to constantly be outsmarted by stuff with no brain.

Back to the original post. I don't see much in the tank to consume alk and cal. So, what I would do is, just stick to small weekly/biweekly water changes, and not dose anything until you could see a detectable level drop. Stability will be key. Be patient! Stylo's are sps, but I have mine in the lowest part of my tank, in a corner. On a lighter note, they like light, but yours may need sunglasses.

New purchase, what was the previous lighting and alk levels before you purchased. Was it a freshly cut frag or had it healed completely. One week to two weeks is what I have found that the damage shows up from a big change in lighting or alk. Keep everything stable and if it did not lose all of its tissue it will recover. If it recovers it will be one of the stronger corals in your tank. My Stylo is up high getting lots of light and flow, never seen it with closed polyps but I have had a few other acros that were doing well but suddenly died and did not recover. Never was sure why, when they were doing well and then seemed to slowly die while everything else seemed to flourish.

just an update on water quality since I had the outset of this problem

Measured yesterday 1-08-17

SG: 1.024
Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: 2-3
Phos: .25
Cal: 380
DkH: 8

this is after 2 25% WC's over the last week, one during the outset on a week later. Had a substantial Diatom bloom a few days ago but that is to be expected I think with all the over feeding I've done. Sadly the Stylo was complete loss, the last bit of flesh came off a few days ago. Current state of important corals below (ignore my chat heads lol)
