Is there hope for this coral. I got it 2 weeks ago and was basically dead in the bag. I still acclimated it and decided I would leave it in the tank as long as there was some tissue on it and until it was covered in algae and definitely dead. It now looks like there is some polyp extension or am I imagining things.

Stylophora is usually really hardy. I have tried many times to kill mine (not really..) but it always manages to come back with a vengeance

Unfortunately, I am going to have to say that your Stylo is on its last leg. Are you running a different light intensity from that that was used at the store where you got it. Or is is closer to your lights than at the pet store?

I purchased from live Aquaria so I wouldn’t know without calling them. I assume less intensity though. It lost all its tissue/bleached within 24hrs of receipt except for those little areas of pigment. They have not grown or faded in anyway since the original event. Took a closer look tonight and saw the polyps.

Stylo and Seriatopora are one of the more hardy SPS along with Montipora, Millipora Pavona and Porites, however, the MUST be acclimated slowly or bleaching is going to be the end result. Sometimes the addition of iodine may help but again, I don’t think so in this case.

I could be wrong and I hope I am...keep us updated!

If you got within the last 14 days call then and you’ll get your money back

I would iodine dip. I'm going through something similar with mine. In my case it was tissue necrosis. The dip stopped tissue loss. Now I'm just waiting to see if it will grow back.
