Styrofoam shipping coolers - what to do with them

Not sure where to post this, so I started in this forum - please feel free to move it to wherever you think it really belongs!

I have been ordering a lot of livestock online over the last six months, and have accumulated quite a collection of those styrofoam shipping coolers. I've been saving them, rather than crushing them and taking them to the landfill, which just seems wrong. I do expect to reuse a couple of them for various things, so I have squirreled those away for reuse, but I have way more than I can ever use, and they take up a lot of space.

I have read that there are some places that will recycle them, but I haven't found anywhere near me that will take them. The UPS Store does take clean packing peanuts though, so I save those up and bring them a big bag every once in a while.

I can't be alone in this - what do you do with these boxes?

See if your LFS will take them? Even if they don't do any shipping, they tend to use them when people buy fish or live rock. Especially in summer & winter.

Use them to build tunnels and mountains for your model train layout. Lol

Funny you should mention that, I had a n-gauge layout about 40 yrs ago, and told myself that I would resurrect it some day. Of course, I have a pile of other crap (including styrofoam boxes) taking up the only space I have left where I could put a little table ...
