Submersible return pump in basement

I have a 50 gallon DT and I plan on plumbing my sump in the basement right below it. I figure it is about 8 feet from where the pump will be to to top of the tank. Ther Ewell be about 4 45 degree fittings. The return line is 3/4". Would running one inch pipe up to the tank and reducing it at the bulkhead help with flow. Also would a dc pump like the varos2 be sufficient?

I have ~13' of head and use a DCP-20000 from Jebao. I ran 1" pipe up under the tank and switched to 3/4" at the end. I have a Pan World AC plumbed in as backup but it does make some noise

You can not use any of the Varios pumps for a basement setup. It will void the warranty immediately. There aren't much options in the DC world of pumps that most would recommend for a basement sump. Vectra L2, Sicce SDC 9.0 are the cheaper of the options, otherwise the typical reccomendation is either Royal Exclusiv or Abyzz.

Up-sizing your plumbing will always help in reducing frictional losses, how much greatly depends on how much flow you are trying to achieve. Given you're looking at a 50G setup I don't think you're wanting an insane amount of flow so 1" would more than likely be good enough.

Looking at the vectra m2. Seems like that will give me plenty of flow?

I have a Jebao DCP-6500 going up 8' & it runs like a champ. It feeds two surge buckets. One is 18gal for the display & the other is a 5gal for the frag tank. I've had no issues with the pump for 11 months.

How about a sicce silent 5.0.

It looks like that 5.0 would be roughly 900 gph before any bends or friction loss in the return line

Never reduce pipe size. It actually makes the pump work harder and shortens the pump life.

If the pump is 1" and bulkhead is 3/4" like he is stating then you have no choice but to reduce it.

Does anybody know how well the apex flow sensors works?

Get a Laguna Max Flo or a Fluval SP series pump. They are workhorses that can handle the head, are long lived and don't use much power. Mag Drive can do it too, but they can get loud and use a bit more electricity.
