This may not be the right place for this, I noticed that I have a white crusty substance forming on the outside of my plumbing to and from the sump. There is no evidence of a water leak but I am not sure what else would cause this. Any ideas?

My guess would be salt creep. Do you have a lot of bubbles or splashing water in the sump area? Also when you have a leak the salt creep will a lot of times dry in a pattern that kind of shows the leak.

I have that too. My sump has fairly high flow rate so there is some splashing. The tubes close to the water level are developing a salt coat. Covered sumps or low flow sumps do not have that problem but it's really nothing to worry about.

+2 to Salt creep. You should see the inside of my sump area. There will be so much salt creep on everything if I slack off and dont wipe it down often enough. Watch your walls behind the tank. if there isn't anything there to protect them, then you can ruin your drywall with salt creep.... just FYI

I'll give it a +3 and add to also check your electrical power strips and outlets if you have them under your tank and near the sump. The creep can show up just about anywhere and cause havoc.
