Substrate

So I'm new to aquariums and was wonder should I use substrate if so what's the easiest to keep clean or should I go bare bottom I have live sand in it now and I love the look but already hate cleaning and I've only cleaned once!_

Certain fish (gobies, wrasses) need substrate to subsist or bury in. If you have a good cleaning crew (snails, conches, crabs) they will do a fairly good job of keeping the substrate clean - but there also syphon types that you can buy to clean the substrate.

Pistol shrimp are really good for keeping the sandbed clean.

Awesome thanks I've just heard alot of bad stuff about fine sand is it ok for a beginner

Pistols are easy, my tank that I kept it in had rather fine sand - if you give it lots of shells and rubble to make the burrow with it helps.
