Previously about a few weeks ago, I documented my attempt at acclimating two male endlers and a couple malaysian trumpet snails to my new reef aquarium. You can find it on my posting history, but essentially, it was mostly a failure.
First endler died mid acclimation for some unknown reason, and second endler died after getting stuck inside a live rock in the tank. The MTS I assume also died as i saw one of their empty shells.
I believe the male endler that survived acclimation died somewhat as a result of the high flow of the tank. I had a koralia 240 running as well as an aquaclear 20. The flow was most likely too high for it and so it decided to seek shelter in a rock and got stuck.
This time around, i purchased 4 female endlers from my lfs and acclimated them with the same procedure as before. One female died while still in the bag for some reason. Another one died while inside the bucket about 5 hours after starting acclimation. Like before, I added a couple mts.
After about 5 days and with them acclimated to the sg, i plopped them into the tank and turned off the koralia. As of current, they’ve been there for about 2 days and have been active and eating albeit shy.
Hopefully this is a success story. If the endlers do well and survive, then i’ll remove the koralia indefinitely, as i feel the aquaclear 20 has enough flow for the 5 gallon. I’m currently trying to acclimate a male and female tiger(?) guppy pair to make some tiger endlers.
