Any idea of the TDS of this tap water?

With evaporation, the dissolved solids in your tank will continue to rise and eventually start causing problems.

Magnesium 1350. Dkh 11.2

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Looking good, I ran successful reefs for years with just tap water. Do I recommend it? No, but if it works for you then I say more power to you!

These two tanks were both tap water tanks:

120g mixed reef.

75g mixed reef.

To Help me get these results are use
phosphite reactor And Jbl BionNitratex 20 Bags, and Tetre Aquasafe and Carbon

When I started my nano I didn't know about tds and rodi. I never had issues.

It absolutely depends on where you live. I used tap for a couple of years without issues but in some areas you have to use ro water. I now use ro water just so that there are less variables if there ever is an issue.

I think it's down to some corals are more sensitive than others as long as you get your chemistry and lighting) right your halfway there that's just my opinion and it's worked for me

Great job! I think you're pretty much right, as long as your tap water is alright. I know in my area we have plenty of places where the tap water could melt plastic. I don't think it would work there :-P.

My dad kept a 180 w/ Quadracolor nems in the early 90's with nothing but WELL water! Not even tap, straight out of the ground well water! He didnt have algae issues, but their was something in the water that killed almost every invert except some crabs and the nems.

If it works, dont try to fix it ya know?

That water out the well I wouldn't mind some of that I could give it to my mother-in-law ha ha

I've been using tap water on my 240 for almost 6 years.
Been using it on my reef tanks for over 20+ years.

I am on a community well

You are lucky you have good tapwater. Where i live our water is horrible. I got lazy a few years ago and used it and sure enough i got the dreaded hair algae.

I use R/O water for a different reason. If anything goes wrong it gives me one less thing to look at in the search for cause.

My tap water quality is very good, but the copper content is enough to kill ich. You may be lucky enough to have good quality water, but an RODI is good insurance against disaster, IMO.
