Do you often buy awesome looking corals from vendors and you add them to your tank and after awhile they just don't look the same as when you got them? Why you ask. These vendors probaly do more to maintain their stock than we do. What i am saying is they check their water parameters daily and add supplements that are needed to maintain almost perfect water parameters. For us reefkeepers we have to test and keep our parameters in check to be successfull. That means calcium, alkalinty, magnesium, etc. must be in proper state to acheive the results we are looking for. Educating yourself with forums like R2R can help you learn about things like lighting issues, dosing regiments etc. I have to say through my years of reefkeeping i have been guilty believing that if i add supplement a&b that is all thats needed to maintain. Without proper testing boy was i wrong. Corals are expensive as you all know so my advice is to test your water and maintain these parameters.

Well said, i do feel the same. Best way is to get a dosing pump....determine what and how much you want to dose, should help a lot to maintain your desired parameters.
