Alright I noticed yesterday that one of my Duncan polyps is coming detracted. I have read that is a symptom of survival. I checked my water this morning (i obsessive check it every other day) and came to this:


Temp - 79

Ammonia - 0

Nitrite - 0

Nitrate - 10

Phosphate - 0

Calcium - 400

KH - 161

pH - 7.8

Could this be from too much flow? I did install a new pump last week. I unplugged it yesterday after I noticed. I read a lot of different things on Duncan’s and flow.

What test did you measure phosphates with? Near 0 phosphates can be bad on its own you may want to dose a bit to bring it up to just measurable levels. Not sure if that's the issue with your Duncan but it could be

I wouldn't dose phosphates unless you're comfortable with it - I would try feeding more. Duncans LOVE eating and that would help bump phosphates. They do change appearance if they are unhappy with flow. Cool ledge.

But yeah, I agree 0 phosphates isn't ideal

I feed twice a week. I could add a 3rd day. Have been using reef roids plan to have 1 of the feeds brine

No, that's plenty. You may need to just reduce water changes or add more fish.

Turn down the flow and feed more

Is there a "high sensitivity" option for the api kit? Salifert's is linear so you can double the liquid plus reagents and divide the reading in half to get more sensitive numbers
