I know they are mean but i still think they deserve some love. They provide nice motion and growth structure are super bright.

Here's to you Hydnophora.

Anyone else out there like them?

I like hydnos quite a bit. I have a neon plating one that's putting on some growth.

What care requirements? I'm looking for more corals. Currently have 5 gonipora, 2 brains, green nepthia and some zoas...

Mine likes high flow and medium light. It will destroy any coral it touches so be sure to give it some room.

That is a really nice specimen. I found the branching/horn variety less aggressive then plating Hydnophora.

Thank you! This one will let some touching go for a couple of days but it ultimately will pop the cap to the right and encrust over the dead cap. I have only seen it send out the sweepers one time and it randomly took out about 4 of those palys below. This one is the size of a cantaloupe and I cant bring myself to get rid of it.

sweet coral tad bit too aggressive for me. every a.m looked like spider-man was in the tank never seen anything like it since we're talking 12 inch+ streamers hooked my Nem on several occasions

Hobbyist did not classify Hydnophora as an sps nor do I believe Turbinaria resembles a sps. Hydnophora is such a stunning coral, hardy and a faster grower.

Really there is no classification of sps or lps. It's a hobbiest term that's actually meaningless. From blue zoo:

As Daniel Knop, the international editor of Coral Magazine and author of Successful Reef Aquarium, pointed out in an interview with Blue Zoo News, “The category LPS was basically created by reef aquarists trying to group those corals that can be kept in a reef tank, in contrast to those small-polyp scleractinians (SPS) that were not able to survive in an aquarium back in the eighties,” said Knop. “As we know now, the LPS survived back then mainly because they die slower, while SPS die very quickly.”

I had one a few years ago. I had him isolated on his own rock but he still would occasionally "reach out and touch" the nearest coral that was 6-7 inches away. I finally decided I wanted that real estate more.

happyhourhero, yours is one of the prettiest I've seen!
