Hello all,
I have a 120 mixed reef that I have been keeping around 9.0 dkh and 450 calc. I have always struggled to keep pH up but have managed to get it up with kalkwasser and co2 scrubbing. I finally have gotten to the magical 8.3 pH number and suddenly my alk dropped 1.5 dkh in 6 hours and calcium dropped 70 ppm over that time.
I calibrated my trident to make sure that wasn’t doing anything weird, and no issues there.
I guess my question is, could me raising my pH to 8.3 consistently have kickstarted a huge growth spurt for my coral which just ate up my alk and calc and created a huge demand increase?
Running dos pumps and apex, trident etc.
