Good morning I have a strange one regarding alkalinity.

My trident has been reading 8.2 dKH pretty much from calibration. Last night I decided on a re-scape and to add a few new peices of real reef rock and some aquaforest af rock which I drilled and tied together using tie wraps. The sand was disturbed aswell but the tank is fairly new so this shouldn't matter much (I hope).

I've also added some life bio fill (porous media) which is for my carbon dosing and in a recirculating reactor fed with nopox.

At the moment nitrate hasn't changed but after all this suddenly my alk has jumped from 8.2 dkh to 10.2 dkh and it's consistently reading this.

The trident reagents b and c are running low at about 15% but reagent a for the alk is at about 60%

Any idea why it's jumped suddenly?

I've a hanna alk testing kit just need to purchase some reagent so I'll try that next.

I'm dosing nopox currently at 8ml a day on a 400 litre tank
