Generally I don't post over here in the LPS forum as I am more of an SPS guys, so please forgive me for that.
Over the past couple of weeks I have been experiencing some weird behavior from a couple of heads on my branching hammer. You can see in the picture below the heads at the top of the colony are all retracted and stubby. Any thoughts on what could cause this.
As a bit of back ground this is a piece that has been in my tank for almost two years and didn't start acting like this until a couple of weeks ago. To me it kind of look like they are reacting like they are getting too much light, but the thing is nothing as far as my lighting set up has changed in quite some time.
What has change is that I started feeding the tank with the new Red Sea AB+. Is it possible that the added nutrients would result in a need for less lighting and there for would results in what would appear to be an over exposure to lighting even though the lighting hasn't changed?
I have also recently started dosing KZ Flatworm Stop (reason is self explainable) and shifted my pH from around 8.2 to 8.4 with a CO2 scrubber. While these are a significant amount of change in the system at once it would seem odd that only a couple heads that are getting the most light would be the ones that are effected. You can also see in the photo that the wall hammer right next to the branching hammer is acting like nothing has changed.
Would love to hear some thoughts from the LPS experts.
