Hello! Just yesterday my frogspawn was open and gorgeous and now it is closed up and has a white goopy "film" on top of it. Any ideas as to what is going on? I'd appreciate any help/insights. :)

The other night I did spray some Coral-Vite and Microvert on it, but it has been open since doing that. It was just this morning when I noticed this issue.

Tank Params:
Alkalinity: 7.5 dkh
Calcium: 390 ppm
Nitrate: 11.9 ppm
Phosphate: 0.06 ppm
pH: 7.1
Salinity: 1.023

Oh goodness @lilfishy it does look disturbed. Let's see if we can get you on track! I can't say for sure what is the specific cause but seeing your alkalinity at 7.5 and nitrate at 12ppm with the lower pH and Salinity makes me consider the stability of this system.

Based on the issues you are having with the BTA and your clownfish, I'd say your tank needs to be more stable to resolve all of these issues. It also looks like you are using painted reef rock correct?

You indicated on October 2nd you had the following parameters (if the same tank).
Age: 6mo
Alkalinity: 8.4 dkh
Calcium: 405 ppm
Nitrate: 9.1 ppm
Phosphate: 0.11 ppm
Salinity: 1.023
pH: about 7.2

Would you have a sump below or in the overflow behind to work with by chance?
