So within the last 2 weeks, ph has dropped from a steady 8.2-8.3 to now 7.5. Was pretty shocking to see when i tested the other day, calibrated my Hanna tester, and no change. Took a sample into lfs and they said around 7.9 using salifert ... either way, still too low and concerning. On top of this, I’ve been looking at ways recently to raise my nitrates from 0 to 2-5, and unfortunately one of the ways was to reduce or stop my fuge lighting (which in turn would be bad for helping my ph get back to normal levels). Also from all the reading, it seems like too much c02 in the room/tank water is the ph issue, but again some of the remedies could also adversely effect my nitrates, which could end up with probs down the road as well. Parameters are:

temp - 77
sal - 1.025
alk - 8.7
cal - 418

Tank is 130 gal mixed reef about 6 mo old with mostly softies (hammer, torch, bubble, goniopora and others) and 7 fish with decent bio load, and everyone seems really happy. Have added quite a few corals over the last couple weeks though, and just started dosing Tropic Marin AFR within the last few days (no other dosing at all). Any help on which param to tackle first, and best way to go about it would be greatly appreciated!

pH 7.5 to much too low, but 7.9 is OK and doesn't necessarily warrant significant action.
Exactly why i was concerned and shocked. I missed a week of testing, but don’t have any idea what would drop it that much. I opened my windows yesterday evening and this am for about 4 hrs total to try to get some fresh air into the room, and got a new digital tester today but we’re still running at 7.5, even though everything (fish and coral) seem fine. What can i do to get that ph up ASAP?

I don't think it is especially likely the pH is really that low, so I wouldn't do anything until the pH meter is recalibrated.

So just re calibrated my tester (Apera digital) and we’re still at 7.7 - not as bad as before, but still too low for daytime I’m thinking. Any ideas?
