I have a sudden Ph drop, my tank been running for a year running apex, lately, i calibrated my apex PH probe, and it was at 8.2. For a week all good. I do use reef octopus co2 scrubber, two littke fishies media, and reef octopus skimmer 200int. Theres no changes to my tank. I dose all for reef on a doser. My ph been rocking 8.2 8.1 at night max. Yesterday night i dropped to 7.88 and now with lights on 8.05. I checked everything. I even tested with hanna it says 7.9 also checked if theres anything on the probe itself. Im really concerned. The only thing is the skimmer is half full for waste but thats about no changes.

Any changes in your house? Have a party or a new girlfriend staying the night? Windows open/closed, running the furnace, etc? My family recently went on vacation and I was shocked that with us being gone the pH went up by almost 0.4. Dropped back down the first night we were back in the house.

Nothing!!!!

Mine fluctuates between 7.8 and 8.25 weekly. It depends on the time of day, the light cycle, how many people are in the house, if the ceiling fan is in or off. I have a coralvue hydros ph probe. I manually dose soda ash. It has never seemed to cause any issues.

I would take some water and do the CO2 experiment with an air pump. If you aren’t familiar with what I’m talking about - take a cup of tank water and measure pH. Then put an airstone in it and bubble outside your house for 10 mins, then measure pH again. Repeat the experiment with a new cup of water inside the house. If the pH rises outside the house only, you have a high CO2 issue in your house. If it rises in both cups, you have an aeration issue in the tank. If it doesn’t rise substantially in either case, you have more investigating to do and some chemical probably got in the tank unbeknownst to you.

Did you clean? I get drops when I clean off algae that accumulates on the walls of my fuge
I closed the windows the other day and my ph dropped .3 before I reopened the window to stop the drop. But I also cleaned the glass that same day. Hmm.. I think it was a combo now.
