I've had Trochus snails as part of my cleanup crew for over a year. They have grown considerably and are probably 1.5-2.0 inches in diameter now. I've seen a couple of smaller ones, that must be babies. In the last 2-3 weeks 3 of my five original big boys have died. Are they trying to tell me something? Everything else in the tank looks really good.

Hello

My experience has been trochus don’t do well over long periods. I had 5, slowly each one turned over even after every time I would flip them back and then died. I’m sure a lot of it is my tank. Never had good luck with snails.

I never knew why. I emailed John at reef cleaners. He said he doesn’t usually keep them just because of them not lasting in tanks. I would check parameters to be safe.

A good chance they are starving to death. I have to feed mine nori. Three of them (2-3”) will easily eat an entire sheet overnight in my tank. They have voracious appetites and grow fast.
