So my system is a 40B/20L sump mixed reef. Right now my fish stock list is a pair of clowns , tailspot blenny, CuC , and a skunk cleaner shrimp. I am looking for a good looking fish that really uses the whole water column and has great color and is obvioualy reef but also invert safe since i love my shrimp.

So far im thinking a royal gramma. I dont want any cardinal. I have had them in the past and find them boring unless they school. The only other kind of fish I thought of was some sort of wrasse. I do have DIY covers. I dont think I want a sand sifting goby because i have plans to buy coral that i can leave on the sandbed. Any suggestions are welcome.

There are some pretty cool Wrasse out there. I enjoy them, they are much more active than cardinals for sure.

Just be careful as you look through them as some require larger than 40 gallons.

My royal gramma hides a lot. Hangs in his cave 75% of the time. Only in the upper half of tank if it’s feeding time. This is a 29g FYI.

Some that come to top of mind would be a flame hawkfish, royal gramma, smaller flasher wrasse like a McCosker, pink streaked wrasse.

I do like the flame hawkfish but I have read that they could eat shrimp.
