Ok so I'm just about done purchasing all the equipment necessary to start my tank. The only thing I need is a RO/DI system. Any suggestions for a good system?

I'm leaning towards a BRS model 6 stage

Yep spectrapure is hands down the best for the money. BRS is not a bad system but spectrapure is better

Spectrapure is number one in the industry for a reason. Nothing else even comes close.

I don't usually recommend the chloramine carbon systems as you do not need any special carbons other than a single 1 micron or smaller carbon block.
There was a time the chloramine system was on sale and since it included an extra canister it was/is easy to convert into a dual DI system for little to no additional investment. Other than that I would recommend the $112 refurbished system or the same system with your first set of replacements, a handheld TDS meter and a low range chlorine test kit for only a bit more which is a steal.

This is the one I have on my build list( the one with the extra filters. Now I happen to have a separate canister for a ro/di unit from a box of stuff I picked up, its a canister that can use any of the drop in 10" filters. Could I add that and make it a 5 stage unit?

My unit is from Buckeye Hydro and I'm very happy with it. Their customer service is outstanding, too !!

I just purchased and installed a SpectraPure system. Love it. 0 TDS and 0 Chlorine. Aquarium starter kit came with all needed lines and an extra set of filters.

I wish I had checked here first before making my purchase. I just received my "RO Buddie" and now I'm wondering if I made a mistake. I wanted something to tie me over between trips to the LFS for RO and it was affordable. I've bookmarked SpectraPure and if things get serious here I'll reinvest. :D

Sometimes BRS has theirs on sale. Same components as all others and solid construction. I use the 4 stage 75 GPD and love it, always 0 TDS.

BRS is not the same quality. Yes the housings and fittings may be the same but it is what is inside that counts.
