Hello Im looking at buying a new skimmer, the Recirculating Reef Octopus DNWB 150 I have right now goes on the fritz ever now and then overflooding and spilling water. I think it might be because this skimmer is too big for my tank.

My 50g tank consists of a pair of percs, a leopard warasse and a pair of baby neon gobies. I have 3 BTAs, an H. Crispa and several sps frags. Also I only feed 1 or 2 times a day.

So far the Deltec MCE300 and Aquamaxx HOB-1 have been my top choices. At this point Im leaning more towards the aquamaxx seeing as the Deltec seems to be a bit outdated now and is pricey. What are your thoughts? Is a Aquamaxx good enough for a 50g tank or can you recommend me any HOB or recirculating skimmers?

Thanks!

Contact Jon Warner(Warner Marine) on here. He has some wonderful skimmers.

I was doing some research on their HOB skimmers and while they pulled out some nice skimate they also were very noisy as well. People were taking the pumps apart, soaking them in vinegar and nothing, still noisy. Thats what i generally read through several searches on different forums.
